Since 2022, Deutsche Bahn has been pursuing a sustainable overall approach to the refurbishment of ageing railway stations. The focus here is on viewing the station as a unit, without dividing it into different aspects. Planning and implementation are coordinated by centralised project management.

As part of this new approach, which also takes wall designs into account, an unobtrusive ceiling design was created that blends harmoniously into the overall design of the station. The motifs are inspired by the rich imagery of the spa and thermal town of Bad Oeynhausen and welcome arrivals at the station with calming pastel colours. This artistic design creates an inviting atmosphere and subtly links the station with the town's identity.
